Nasa's Kennedy Space Center Florida

A starry vacation destination! 

Operated by NASA, the John F. Kennedy Space Center near Cape Canaveral, Florida is a working attraction featuring the hub of the US space program. The vast complex includes a bus tour of past and present space travel complete with simulations, three state of the art IMAX movies in the high-tech Spaceport theatre, the Gallery of Manned Spaceflights featuring exhibits from previous launches and even a simulated future space station. 

Located only 45 miles east of Orlando, Florida, the coast line around Cape Canaveral is a popular location for visitors looking to combine site seeing with wide sandy beaches.  

The John F. Kennedy Space Center is a world class attraction. Operated by NASA, this massive complex includes exhibitions, IMAX simulation movies, space museums and of course the opportunity to sometimes see actual space launches.  

Highlights of the Kennedy Space Center include Exploration in the New Millennium (a journey to Mars), Robot Scouts (an exhibit of unmanned flights), the Rocket Garden (a history of the rocket program) and of course The Apollo Saturn V Center featuring an actual 363 foot Saturn V rocket.  

The state of the art 5 story tall IMAX theater features 3 fantastic space movies including The Dream is Alive (astronaut training and shuttle launch), Mission to Mir (footage of the Russian Space Station) and L5: First City in Space (a simulation of a future space station). 

Other highlights includes the Astronaut Memorial Planetary and Observation featuring first rate telescopes to view the solar system, more real life adventure movies and a fantastic laser light show. When opened to the public, the KSC Tour is an actual guided bus ride into the NASA complex including a visit to the actual launch pad. 

Beyond the John F. Kennedy Space Center, the Cape Canaveral area is known for an incredible 13 mile stretch of protected barrier island beach area filled with nature trails and even marked canoe trail. The undeveloped Playalinda Beach area (the largest in Florida) is a favorite of nature buffs and those who prefer to sunbathe in the buff.
